F R A C T A L L A N D S C A P E S
by Ian Adam, P.E.
It would have been nice to have had a long discourse on fractals to
start off this text file, followed by a detailed set of instructions for
every one of the many commands and parameters the programs has. But, alas,
disk space is at a premium on Side One.
Therefore, Ian Adam's beautiful program will have to be sort of an
"experimental" program for you. Run it, answer the prompt about which type
of computer you have, watch the nifty landscape get drawn, then start
pressing keys. All of the hot keys are listed on the Menu/Parameters
screen. Press one and see what happens when another image is drawn.
If you are familiar with any of Ian's previous fractal or "life"
programs published on LOADSTAR 128 and 64, you'll have no problem. If this
is your first, don't worry; Ian's programs are very logical.
There are several saved landscapes on the disk. Note that they are 1
block long. That's the beauty of fractals: data-wise they are very small.
However, it takes a while (especially in BASIC) to take this tiny bit of
data and turn it into a complex landscape. Be patient when the program is
scaling and drawing. Check out the scenery and you'll agree it's worth it.
Ian's address is given in the program. If you have questions, please
include a stamped (two 29 cent stamps), self-addressed envelope.
